Corporate slave Arihito Atobe's death in a freak bus accident marks the beginning of his new life as a kind of adventurer called a Seeker. Reborn into a fantasy world, he settles into a previously unknown job class called "rearguard," capable of providing his (all-female) party with critical attack, defense, and recovery support. And it comes with an added bonus: Simply being at the back of the party line increases his companions' fondness for him! Nice of Arihito wanting to turn Theresia into a human, but she might be better and stronger in her current form.
I think it’s more about her being limited in her lizardman form. Far as we been told people who die in the dungeon and turn into Demi humans can’t talk, and can legally turned into slaves with almost no rights. Which is a bit of a weird thing to the world. The gods bother to send people to the world to explore dungeons, but give them almost no real training or knowledge on how to do so properly. And even the 1st level of the dungeon seemed more than able to kill people.
Add in the reborn as a slave thing, the “afterlife” of this whole world seems kid of more like a hell than anything else.
