The sexism of this writing is crazy. But not surprising coming from Japan.
Sexism, how? One guy acts one way, one girl acts another. Is it not sexist to say either can’t act that way? Never mind the logical reasons for their actions. Defined roles in a relationship makes a lot of sense when your surviving out in the wild. If you want to raise a family you need some one strong and able to provide for the family and some one to cook, clean and take care of the kids. Now you might debate who does what, but someone has to do both jobs as your quite literally on your own in most cases.
That said the writing was a bit blunt and honestly none of these people felt like real characters. Very one dimensional. They met and decided to get married within like a day, and then the end credits rolled to show them having kids…. Very rushed, fake romance novel feel to how their relationship worked out.
