Life is not easy for Anne Shirley, an 11-year-old orphan with a vast imagination and a short temper. In a twist of fate, she gets taken into the Cuthbert house in Avonlea. The elderly occupants Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert were looking for a young boy to help in the fields, but they're in for quite a shock when they realize Anne is a girl.
Adapted from the acclaimed classic by L. M. Montgomery, Akage no Anne portrays Anne's upbringing from 11 to 17 years of age and her encounters and separations with various people. Only time will tell what major decision Anne has to make that will change her life forever.
I did not expect a rerun of Anne of the Green Gables! I had watched the old version (1979 I think) after discovering this story as a live version series on a famous platform during Covid period. I had planned to read the book because, as strange as it seems, it never reached my country when I was a child, while The Little House was a huge success. I like Anne’s story a lot and it’s fun to go through it one more time with a more modern animation (though I love oldies). I really feel the same vibes, the setting is really similar to the other version. It feels a bit rushed compared to the old anime but it’s half its length so. But still, I find that Ms Cuthbeth is getting under Anne’s charm a bit fast.
